About Boston's Hidden Restaurants

Our site has been steadily increasing in popularity since its inception in early 2004, which was spurred on by some early reviews of dining and drinking spots across the Northeast, including such varied places as The Tavern in Eagle Bay, NY, Docksider Restaurant in Northeast Harbor, ME, The Alamo in Milford, MA, The Red Parrot in Hull, MA, the Pattaconk 1850 Bar and Grille in Chester, CT, Darby’s Restaurant and Pub in Belfast, ME, King Phillip Restaurant in Phillipston, MA, Leo’s Ristorante in Bristol, RI, Andino’s in Providence, RI, Union Station Brewery in Providence, RI, Restaurant Mexico Garibaldi in Providence, RI, Blackie’s in Cheshire, CT, Al’s Hot Dog Stand in Naugatuck, CT, Grandma’s Kitchen in Whitefield, NH, and a number of other “oldies but goodies” reviews from way back. (More of the older reviews can be found here, by the way.) Late in 2004, we received our first big boost, with the founder of the site being invited to spend an hour talking about Boston’s Hidden Restaurants on the Jordan Rich show on WBZ 1030. The following year, Boston’s Hidden Restaurants was featured on the 5:30 news on Channel 5 in Boston. Then in early 2007, the site’s news blog (Boston Restaurant Talk) was added as a feature to AOL’s Boston dining page (where it remains today). In late 2007, the blog was featured on the front page of the Boston Globe’s online edition. In early 2008, Boston Magazine started referring to our site for updates on the Boston restaurant scene. In 2009 and 2010, our news blog’s articles were posted on UPI’s and USA Today’s websites. In 2011, pages from both the site and the blog were featured in Grub Street (New York Magazine’s blog), and the Klout site stated that we were the second most influential person/business in Boston, while in 2012 the writer of this site began a feature on hidden restaurants in the online edition of Boston Magazine. 2013 to 2016 and was followed up by a regular column in Dig Boston. These have also been the years of social media, with the website closing in on 250,000 followers as of late in 2018, while we have also been on a number of segments on WBZ’s Connoisseur’s Corner with Jordan Rich starting in 2016 and running into 2021 while also being on WMFO and Indie617 on a regular basis. So what is in store for 2022 and beyond? We shall soon find out!
